Year 11 Students at Aldridge School Inspired by Poet & Musician Damani Dennisur
On Friday 5th December, our Year 11 students experienced an unforgettable morning of motivation and creativity as performance poet and musician Damani Dennisur took to the stage for a special assembly.
Damani, who began writing poetry at just 12 years old and went on to become Birmingham’s 7th Young Poet Laureate, captivated the audience with his powerful words and uplifting message. His story of dedication reminded students that with focus, resilience, and self-belief, they can achieve remarkable things, even at a young age.
The assembly was not just about exams. It was about confidence, courage, and the reminder that every student has the potential to shine.
Jack S, a Year 11 student, commented, “Listening to Damani made me realise that even though exams feel overwhelming, I can still achieve great things if I stay determined.”
The event formed part of our school’s commitment to supporting students academically and emotionally, ensuring they feel prepared and empowered as they head into both mock and final exams.
The morning left students buzzing with inspiration and ready to tackle the busy months ahead with renewed energy!
